Why this matters
Geysers fail for one dominant reason in Bengaluru, and it is scale. Hard borewell water deposits calcium on the heating element every time the element runs, and that deposit acts as insulation. The element has to work longer and hotter to reach the same temperature, which raises your electricity use, and eventually it overheats and burns out. A geyser that takes noticeably longer to heat than it used to is almost always describing a scaled element.
The second silent failure is the anode rod. It is a sacrificial component whose whole job is to corrode instead of the tank, and once it is consumed the tank itself starts corroding. Nobody notices, because nothing changes until the tank leaks — at which point the geyser is finished and there may be water damage. Checking the anode is part of a proper service and is the single cheapest way to extend a storage geyser’s life.
Because usage is seasonal, most people discover a fault on the first cold morning of the year, along with everybody else. Servicing in September or October rather than December means shorter waits and a working geyser when you want it.

How much does geyser repair cost in Bangalore?

Why is my geyser taking longer to heat water?
Almost always scale build-up on the heating element, which insulates it and forces it to run longer for the same result. It also raises your electricity bill and eventually burns the element out. Descaling restores both the heating time and the efficiency.
How often should a geyser be serviced?
Once a year, and ideally before winter. On hard borewell water — common across east and north Bengaluru — annual descaling matters considerably more than it does on Cauvery supply.
My geyser is tripping the MCB. Is it dangerous?
Treat it as urgent. It usually means the heating element has failed and is leaking current to earth. Switch the geyser off at the mains and do not use it until a technician has checked the element and the earthing.
What is an anode rod and does it need replacing?
It is a sacrificial rod that corrodes so your tank does not. Once consumed, the tank starts corroding instead and will eventually leak. Replacing it is far cheaper than replacing the geyser, and we check its condition during every service.
Do you repair gas geysers as well as electric ones?
Tell us which type you have when you book. Electric storage and instant geysers are standard work. A gas water heater burns LPG in a confined bathroom space, so it is handled differently and the support desk will confirm scope before the visit rather than sending a technician who cannot complete it.
My geyser leaks from the bottom. Can it be repaired?
It depends where the leak actually is. A leak at an inlet or outlet connection, the safety valve or the drain plug is a straightforward repair. A leak from the tank body itself means the tank has corroded through, and no repair is safe at that point — the technician will say so plainly rather than patch it.
Should the geyser be switched off at the mains between uses?
A modern thermostat-controlled geyser cycles on its own and does not need to be switched off after every bath, but leaving it on continuously for days does add scale and cost. What matters far more here is annual descaling, because that is what actually decides how long the element and tank last on Bengaluru water.
How long does a geyser service take?
A descale and service is normally completed in one visit. Draining a heavily scaled storage tank takes longer than an instant geyser, so allow extra time if yours has not been serviced in a few years.
