Why this matters
An electric pressure cooker is two appliances in one casing. Underneath it is a sealed pressure vessel with a gasket, a float valve and a steam release, exactly like a stovetop cooker. Sitting on top of that is a control board reading temperature and pressure sensors and deciding when to cut power to the heating plate. A fault can live in either half, and the two halves produce very similar symptoms.
That is why the error code matters. A cooker that will not come to pressure is usually mechanical, most often a sealing ring that has stretched or a float valve gummed up with starch. A cooker that heats, beeps and stops with a code on the display is usually electronic, and the code narrows it to the sensor, the board or the heating plate before anything is opened up. Guessing between the two is what turns a small repair into a replaced appliance.

My cooker shows an error code. Does that mean it is finished?

Is an electric pressure cooker safe to keep using if it leaks steam?
Steam escaping from the lid rim rather than the release valve means the cooker is not sealing, and it should be looked at before further use. The cause is usually a stretched sealing ring or a float valve gummed with starch, but a cooker that is not sealing properly is also one whose safety features you cannot verify.
Do you repair multi-cookers that also air fry or slow cook?
Yes. Multi-function cookers combine a pressure vessel with extra heating modes and sometimes a second lid, so there are more sensors and switches involved, but the diagnosis follows the same split between the mechanical half and the control board.
My cooker takes far longer to come to pressure than it used to. Why?
Usually the sealing ring has hardened just enough to leak slowly, so pressure builds but not at the designed rate. Less often it is the heating plate losing efficiency or a pressure sensor reading low. Both are checked during the visit rather than guessed at.
