Why this matters
A pressure cooker is the most safety-critical utensil in an Indian kitchen, and also the one most likely to be repaired with whatever part happens to fit. It holds steam at roughly twice atmospheric pressure over an open flame, several times a week, for years. The parts that keep that safe are not the body or the lid: they are the gasket, the safety valve and the vent tube, and all three are consumables that wear out on a schedule most households never track.
The usual sequence is familiar. The gasket hardens and stops sealing, so the cooker takes longer to build pressure and steam escapes around the rim. People compensate by pressing the lid down harder, or simply ignore it. Meanwhile the vent tube narrows with dal residue, and the safety valve, which is the last line of defence if the vent blocks completely, has never been looked at. Each fault on its own is minor. Together they are how cooker accidents happen.
Replacing a gasket costs very little and the parts for most Indian brands are held in stock. What is worth paying for is somebody checking all three safety components together and pressure-testing the cooker afterwards, rather than swapping the one part you noticed and handing it back.

Pressure Cooker Service — frequently asked questions
The questions our Bengaluru customers ask most.
How much does pressure cooker repair cost in Bangalore?
Pressure cooker service starts at ₹109, plus the cost of any part replaced. The technician shows you the part price before fitting it, and you approve the total before the job is billed.
How often should the gasket be replaced?
For a cooker used most days, roughly once a year, and sooner if it has hardened, flattened or gone shiny. A gasket that no longer springs back when pressed is finished, however good it looks.
My cooker leaks steam from the sides. Is that dangerous?
It means the lid is not sealing, usually a worn gasket or a distorted rim. That alone is not an immediate hazard, but it hides the real risk: if steam is escaping at the rim you cannot tell whether the vent tube and safety valve are still clear. Stop using it until it has been checked.
Do you repair aluminium and stainless steel cookers both?
Yes, and hard-anodised and induction-base models too. What differs is the parts, not the service.
Is a cracked handle worth repairing?
Yes, and it should not be left. A handle that fails while the cooker is under pressure is one of the more common ways people are scalded. Body and lid handles are stocked for most brands.
Can you repair my cooker at home the same visit?
Yes. Gaskets, safety valves, vent tubes, weights and handles are all carried and fitted at your kitchen counter, and the cooker is pressure-tested before the technician leaves. There is no need to leave it anywhere.
How do I know my gasket needs changing?
Press it — a gasket that no longer springs back is finished, however good it looks. Other signs are steam escaping at the rim instead of the vent, the cooker taking noticeably longer to build pressure, or the rubber having gone hard, shiny or flattened on one side.
Is it safe to use a cooker whose safety valve has blown?
No. The safety valve is the last line of defence if the vent tube blocks completely, and a cooker running without a working one has no backup at all. Stop using it and have the valve, the vent tube and the gasket checked together, because a blown valve usually means something else was already restricted.
Do you repair induction-base and hard-anodised cookers?
Yes — aluminium, stainless steel, hard-anodised and induction-base models, in both outer-lid and inner-lid designs. What changes between them is the parts, not the service, and the base is also checked for flatness so the cooker sits properly on the hob.
Can I buy just the gasket or safety valve without a technician visit?
Yes. Gaskets, safety valves, vent tubes, weights, handles and fusible plugs are sold individually from our spare parts store with free delivery across our Bengaluru coverage. Send the brand, capacity and a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm the right part before you order.
